We’ll just come out and say it: We love Tampa. Like, looooove love.

From its natural attractions, to its people, cultures, communities, history, and food  – we love its every everything. Maybe it’s the warmer weather that has us waxing sentimental. Maybe it’s because Valentine’s Day has us feeling warm-and-fuzzy. Whatever it is, we’re feeling the love.

And we’re not alone. Because according to recent headlines, it seems the love has traveled around the country. And it’s about time.

So excuse us while we #humblebrag a little here or, rather, let countless other news and media outlets do it for us.

Tampa Bay Cracks National Top-10 List For Real Estate Investors

“It’s taken 40 years but the Tampa Bay area has finally been named one of the nation’s top-10 markets  for real estate investors.

“And we’re not talking just house flippers but also big-time investors prepared to sink millions into warehouses, office buildings, industrial space and shopping centers.

“For the past four decades, PwC US and the Urban Land Institute have collaborated on an annual survey of real estate professionals around the globe. This year they queried 2,400 pros, who ranked Tampa Bay 10th among 79 U.S. metro areas in overall real estate prospects. And it ranked second in home building, surpassed only by Nashville.

“What makes the bay area so attractive? One big reason is that housing is a relative bargain, with a median home price of $227,000 compared to $262,000 nationally.”

The Best Cities To Own Rental Property In Florida

“Although Tampa home prices have risen in recent years, the city still has plenty of neighborhoods and zip codes where investors can find properties at affordable prices, and rent them out for $1,405 to $1,527 a month on average.

“Tampa’s economic prospects really boost the city’s appeal to rental property owners. Tampa’s year-over-year employment growth beat the U.S. average. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, U.S. nonfarm employment increased approximately 1.6% from 2017 to 2018, while Tampa managed a 2.3% increase.

“Health care and social assistance is the dominant employment sector in Tampa. This isn’t a bad thing considering jobs such as home health aides, personal care aides, physician assistants and nurse practitioners all rank among the top-10 fastest-growing occupations in the country, according to BLS Employment Projections.”

Tampa Named A Best Place For Entrepreneurs

“Tampa entrepreneurs are making a splash beyond the Bay area.

“Inc. Magazine named Tampa as one of the best places to start a business, coming in at No. 24 out of 50 cities across the country.

“‘Tampa has more high-growth companies per capita than New York City, and now it’s looking to launch its own version of SxSW,” the ranking reads.

“Jeff Vinik was a key reason for the high ranking spot: Embarc Collective, Water Street Tampa and Dreamit are all Vinik-backed and all factors in making the city entrepreneur friendly, according to Inc. The Tampa Bay Wave and its slew of successful companies, Synapse Summit and Peerfit were also lauded by Inc.

“The cities were also all broken down by a slew of categories, with Tampa sliding in the top 20 across most of the board.”

Tampa Bay Has ‘Room To Run’ As One Of Nation’s Top-10 Markets For Real Estate Investors This Year

“For the first time, the area has been named one of the nation’s top 10 markets for real estate investors, joining not just Charlotte but also Austin, Raleigh and Nashville.

“Strong job growth, tax law changes and an increasingly youthful population are among the factors making the Tampa Bay area far more attractive to investors than it was a decade ago, 500 conference attendees were told. And while the U.S. economy shows signs of slowing, the bay area is an enviable position.

“’By historical standards, we’re late in this expansion, but Tampa (Bay) started so far back I think it’s early in its expansion,” said Mitchell Roschelle, a partner in PwC and co-author of the 2019 Emerging Trends in Real Estate Report. “The tailwinds are far stronger than any headwinds that would come. You have a lot more room to run.’

“Roschelle was especially laudatory of Tampa’s redevelopment, including of its long-neglected waterfront. (The conference was held at Armature Works, a one-time streetcar depot turned hip food hall on the Hillsborough River.)

“’The story of Tampa is really quite remarkable but not surprising,” he said. “You had the vision to take the waterfront and do something with it. You have a live-work-play that’s the envy of other cities.’”

Food Network Says Quintessential Cuban Sandwich Is Found At Tampa’s Columbia Restaurant

“The television titan of taste recently published The Best Sandwiches in America on its website, a compilation of some of the country’s most iconic sandwiches and the one place where you should try each.

“The Columbia and its Cuban not only earned the honor of quintessential Cuban (sorry again, Miami), it’s the only sandwich from Florida out of more than 50.

“The list of sandwiches made its rounds across the internet this past weekend, catapulting the Columbia’s Cuban once again into the web browsers and screens of diners across the ether. This version of the sandwich is so popular that it’s been featured on shows like ABC’s The Chew and CBS’s Sunday Morning, among others.”
